Thanksgiving Lesson

So of course with Thanksgiving a week away we are studing about the First Thanksgivng and the many meanings of Thanksgiving.

We made a Thanksgiving Tree with leaves full of all the things we are Thankful for.

Then we made Indian Vests out of paper bags.

More Fall Fun

We don't really make a big ta-do of Halloween. We do dress up (which we do on most day's)  and we go to our families houses and get treats from them.  Our favorite thing is to go to the Open House/Fall Festival at the Fire Dept, Police Station & Library.  They have food and games and tours of the facilities.  Just a fun community event.

A is 7

October 20th was A's 7th birthday. He had his friends party on the Saturday before his birthday this year. It was a Monster Truck theme.

I picked up the cups and napkins at the Dollar Store.
Ordered the Checkerd Mats & Stickers from Birthday Express.

Simple Favor of a Hot Wheels Monster Jam Truck and Reeces Pieces.

The Cake:  I made a 9x13 Chocolate Cake with Milk Chocolate Frosting.  I used a Hot Wheels Monster Jam toy set for the top decoration and added crushed oreo's for "dirt".

Treats table: Cheese Puffs, Cheese Popcorn, Muddy Buddy's, Twizzlers, and Chocolate Donuts (Truck Tires)

Apple Picking

On October 7 we headed to The Apple Barn Orchard and Winery in Elkhorn, WI. for some apple picking.  We usually go to Edwards Orchard in Poplar Grove, IL. but they were out of the apples I like to use by the time we were able to go.  So K took the day off of work and we had a field trip up to WI for some fun!

We had quite the loot.  2 busshels full of apples, 3 gallons of cider, 1 dozon cider donuts and a bottle of Pumpkin Wine.  :)  It was a great day!  After the orchard we headed to Lake Geneva for some Friday Fish Fry.  We watched the sunset on the lake while eating ice cream at the pier.  Just a wonderful family day all around!
