Where did the time go...

Well, somehow time has slipped away from me or well life happens; and I have not blogged  in a very long time.  So let's see if I can get caught up.  :)
October:
The kids and got to meet Scott & Kelly from the KLOVE Afternoon Show.

We had our annual Pumpkin Carving night at my sister's house.

Halloween:
Our kiddo's decided to dress up as their favorite character for Halloween this year.  We made A's costume by hand or second hand.  M got her dress as a b-day gift, we bought the Bow and made the quiver.

A turn's 8

 October 20th A celebrated his 8th Birthday!
I still cannot believe how fast they are growing up.
About my Little Man:
Loves Lego's, Superhero's, Reading, Drawing, Playing his DS, Listening to music (Country and Christian) and Adventures in Odyssey, Playing Drums, Bike Riding and Rollerblading.  He loves to help me cook.  Helping dad with "projects". Wolf Scout.  Favorite foods are Pizza, Chocolate cake or Brownies.  He is exactly like me... which is scary at times and we butt heads a lot.  But we can also talk like friends.

Treats Table
This year he wanted an Avengers themed party.  I was happy because it didn't cost very much to throw this party because we or my sister had a lot of the decorations.

Contentment

Contentment is accepting God’s sovereign control
over all of life’s circumstances.

Our women's bible study at church is reading/studying
Calm My Anxious Heart by Linda Dillow.

Ironically this book has been sitting on my bookshelf for at least 6 years....

It has been an interesting read on understanding what true contentment is, and how your perception of your circumstances, your roles and your relationships can keep your from possessing a heart of true contentment.

There is a Study Guide in the back of the book that follows along with each chapter.  Each chapter is also about different women that Linda has known and stories about their journey to contentment.
Here are a few of my favorites so far:
Chapter 1

*never allow yourself to complain about anything—not
even the weather.

*never picture yourself in any other circumstances or
someplace else.

*never compare your lot with another’s.
*never allow yourself to wish this or that had been
otherwise.

*never dwell on tomorrow—remember that [tomorrow] is God’s, not ours.
(~Wow, I am a complainer.....  my husband is a complainer... my kids are complainers...)

"Ella possessed a soul sufficiency, a peace separate from her circumstances."

What does that mean?  What would that feel like to have soul sufficiency?

Chapter 2
Philippians 4:6-8
Always be full of joy in the Lord.  I say it again-rejoice!  Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do.  Remember, the Lord is coming soon.
Don't worry about anything; instead pray about everything.  Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

Annual Apple Picking 2012

With the drought in most of Illinois this year and early spring bloom/late frost we did not have a good apple crop; and most U-pick apples were not available.  We went back to our family favorite spot Edwards Orchard in Poplar Grove, IL.  We did get apples from there they just were pre-picked.

Not real thrilled with the picture...

We even stopped at a little farm on the way home and got our pumpkins.
